I just recently moved to France.
I’m a girl and will be going into grade 10.
I’ve never moved before, so I don’t really know how to make new friends.
One main problem is that French is my second language, and I’m pretty good at it but don’t know the slang and they seem to talk really fast.
Any suggestions or tips?

Believe it or not, many people want to make friends with the new kid and will be happy to help you out and show you around. If you are pretty good at the basics of French, then you are sorted. You’ll learn the slang in time and become just another pupil at the French school. My cousins are French and they learn English at their school, and the pupils at your new school may do the same, so you could talk to them in English if you find the French to difficult. And just be yourself; don’t kid you are something you’re not. Potential friends are always majorly put off by that.

A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!
A simple friend reads this e-mail and deletes it.
A real friend passes it on and sends it back to you!

Join a club or sport if the school has them! Also, you will usually make a friend or two in one of your classes. Like in science when you partner up for a lab. Good luck!
